Reveling...

I am enjoying reveling in the "It's the night before my life changes forever" excitement.

It’s the night before I move away FOR REALS. No, Reno doesn’t count, it wasn’t far enough to be “moved away.” My car is packed. It was one of those things, where I stood back and said, “This is why I enjoyed 1000 piece puzzles” So that I could effectively pack my car. It's full. REALLY full. I am not, however, really excited to UNpack it.

...I am far beyond words, excited for this. This new adventure that I get to explore and enjoy.

...goodbye familiarity...goodbye comfortable...hello, whole new world.

Organizing=Comforting

Organization. I love that word. It means so much more to me than it probably does for you. To me. It’s comfortable. Correction. Comforting. Yes. I have often wondered why I am so good at/love organizing?! Mess makes me feel sick. I can’t stand stuff everywhere. I can’t stand a space that doesn’t have proper organization tools to use to organize: ahem: shelves, hooks, hangers, cabinets, lockers, pencil boxes, boxes in general …you get the idea. Without those =mess.

Tonight I astounded myself with the extreme I went to, to figure out a class schedule that I can’t fully organize because I don’t know what classes are full or not. Either way I took the time to write out all 77 credits I have left (77 credits left in my college career! Woo!) Then, went to the Online Schedule, and wrote out all the times and days for each class. Lined them up, and created 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices for my class schedule! Again, hit or miss…because I don’t know what’s full? I plan on taking 5 semesters in a row. Yes. Summer school. I did that math and if I take 18 credits for 4 semesters and then 5 credits over the summer…I’m golden  Again…there is just something really comforting in organizing it that way.

My thoughts on the matter of “why am I such an organizing freak?!” …control.
There is very little in life that you can control. For example: the weather, people’s mood or feelings around you, how much traffic will be on the road, the lists literally go on and on.

When I organize, I feel like I get to control something. Weird sounding? I know. But everyone wants control in their life, human beings crave it. Look at history. I don’t want to control any one else’s life/things. Just my own. Instead of being ashamed of how I organize things, I figure I would just write it out in a somewhat organized fashion. However, if you wanted me to organize something for you, I’d happily do so. Case in point: I organize our pantry. …my parents realized I’m good at organizing and enjoy it. Let’s just say that doing chores…wasn’t something I complained about. Weird? I know.

Holymoly. It’s so late there are info-mercials on. More specifically “The Slap Chop” hahah! Does it bother anyone else when everything is $19.95 but they throw in the whole “only 2 or 3 or 4 payments of?!”
...
Hmm. Easily distracted? Yes.

When the FB status turns into a novel...I know it's blogging time..

When my Facebook status turns into a novel about my day I figured it would be deemed appropriate to just blog about it.

I went thrifting (again, I know) with Kels today and after trying on every overall in the place, we decided to go without the overall look for BreakAway. I mean, I didn’t exactly want to wear them, but we felt that the “Final Frontier” required overalls. We found an awesome pair of overalls from the 70’s that actually looked really good on Kels, it had less of a “Bill the Plumber” look and more of a “I’m about to disco” look. Either way we ditched the idea and decided on the collared plaid shirts and bandanas. Kels got some really cute boots…I found them. Actually all of the cute clothes I found, were Kels’s size. I stopped pulling clothes off the rack and saying they were cute after a while… haha

I caught up with an old friend today, it’s crazy the amount of change that can happen in a year. She has a husband and baby, and moved to a new neighborhood, works full time.... and I am moving soon, excited about school, and that’s where we met…school. She is the only other person that will ever be able to relate to being Vice President of Student Government (she preceded me). We talked about all the good times and hard time of the job and her baby interjected some “hi's” and “buhbye's” where he felt they should go in our conversation...such a little cutie! He is turning 1 soon! CRAZY STUFF. Loved every minute of it. :)

BreakAway rehearsals always make me smile, but I talk so loud I end up with a headache. I’m loud in general, but I feel the need to project as soon as I step onto a stage…making me twice as loud…all my head says afterwards is “advil”. Haha I get to play the kid sister. The obnoxious, loud, goofy… little sister. It’s nice playing a part like that for a change, I’m usually playing the villain, the villains side-kick or something of that nature. All I know is, we are going to change lives, that is truly the most amazing part of it, I get to be a small part of the bigger, grander plan.

This is the first summer I have had, that I truly want to be over. I want to go to school so badly. Weird? I know, but I have always been that kid in school with the binders, that match. School shopping is my favorite…it’s like a candy store to me. All the fresh new pencils, new pads of paper, new highlighters!! Awe man, I could go on and on… but really, the idea of living with/or in close proximity to my best friend, being an intern in my favorite ministry, and majoring in something I am actually excited about…makes this summer feel WAY too long.

We only believe in FUN days...

Fun Days...are the BEST days.

This little adventure started yesterday, last night...

Alrighty, so I brought Noelle up to my house and we were going to have a fun filled night of movies and cookies and sharing secrets and painting nails...until suddenly Noelle let out a shrill scream.
A scream?! We had been in my house for about 5 minutes when downstairs it sounded as if someone was murdering her.
I ran downstairs.
She stood pointing to a black spot under the keyboard.
I got closer.
SPIDER.
NO. Not the small, little itzy bitzy one children sing about.
Not even the ones that my roommates and I killed (wolf spiders) often. No. This spider looked different. So, as we stood and tried to discuss our options (I suggested we go upstairs and pretend it didn't exsist...) which apparently wasn't an option for Noelle...Noelle grabbed the broom, got into a warrior princess stance and then stood, frozen staring at the spider. I ran back upstairs while she babysat the spider, I looked for a book, anything to throw at the spider...the only books in our house were the roommates yearbooks..which i wouldn't ever throw..for fear of accidentally ripping out a memory or something.
SCREAM.
I run back downstairs.
TARANTULA.
it. was. a. TARANTULA.
NOPE. not going to happen.
The older braver cousin I once prided myself being, had left. I started screaming with her. Jumping up and down. Screaming.
I called the roommate who had sprayed poison outside the house earlier to keep them out of the house. As I was on the phone...IT RAN. AT NOELLE.
MORE SCREAMING.
One of the options I had given in the beginning of this was to go to my parents house...
Stay or Go I said.
As the TARANTULA RAN at NOELLE she SCREAMED "GO! please GO!"
The TARANTULA ran to the fireplace...we RAN up the stairs and got our stuff out of my room and as we came back down the stairs (she was a few feet ahead of me I heard her say..) "ITS GONE! ITS GONE! RUN!" We RAN. She became someone out of the Matrix hitting the garage door shut and jumping and ducking out of there. We took off and it was the most embarrassing phone call of my life..
"Hey Dad...We're coming home.
Why? Well...There is this spider..
NO ITS BIG
Dad its a TURANTULA..
NO I DIDNT TAKE A PICTURE! WE RAN!"

End scene.

So we go to lunch today at Olive Garden, or the OG as one very irritating waiter had informed us last time. We get to sit upstairs which is a first for me, and behind me sat this very odd couple whom seemed to be having a break up lunch. Noelle and I sat in silence for a good 15 minutes just listening to a conversation that seemed to come out of some pathetic preteen romance novel. The guy is trying to figure out where he went wrong while this girl was idiotic enough to go out to lunch to RE break up with this guy. In the end, what we got from this weird relationship was,
1) "is HE skinnier than me?! tell me. He is, isn't he?! why does that matter to you!?"
2) "would you be jealous if I dated another girl?" "nope, i dumped you remember."
----how heartless!
3) "what's his name?"..."JUST TELL ME HIS NAME"
----whoa buddy.
4) the girl finally speaks, "I just love going out to lunch with you, no, no no I don't love you, just lunch."

.....hmm...awkward...tense.... she probably should have not gone out to lunch with him in the first place. :)

Thrift Stores. ARE. COOL.
So I took Noelle to a super cool thrift store that also buys back gently worn clothes...basically she looked like a kid in a Candy Store, I mean in what universe do you get a bag of Aero Clothes CHEAP!? uhm..this thirft store :)

Walmart. It's the one place where you don't need to feel weird. Everyone is having their own weird conversations...mine included being worried about matching. The guy across the way didn't realize the tie he was holding was PINK not RED. The child down the aisle was singing to herself and Noelle sat patiently on the bench in the Dressing Room section listening to the Lady who worked there freak out about something to a co-worker. SO fascinating. Really people watching, if it were a sport, Noelle and I would win.

Mini Sushi and Mini molten chocolate cakes
I have perfected the art of sushi. I must say it took many tries, many failed attempts, broken pieces, too much of something...anythign really...BUT after about a year or so of trying...I can make bite size (no, not the bite size at the restaurant where you need to take three bites or stuff it in your mouth and hope no one looks your way because you resemble a chipmunk :) I mean literal BITE-SIZE.) Then Noelle made the BEST molten chocolate cake EVER. Needless to say.. I'm full.

It was a good day. <3

cooking is my new favorite subject

Cooking is the only science I will ever be good at. Just sayin'.

Flying, Reality, Aces Game and Maverick.

None of the above actually have anything in common except it all happened in the last two days! Busybusybusy! That’s actually my favorite thing to be! Alrighty lets start with the most fun, and more terrifyingly exciting..

FLYING. Okay so my friend got his pilot license last year and this summer he said he’d take me flying. Lo-and-behold…we went flying! I should probably figure out how to post the pictures on here…I’ll look into it ☺ Anyway, I saw the cutest, littlest white with a blue stripe plane that barely seats four people. He made sure everything looked good and then let me know that he had never flown that model before! Woo! Adrenaline started pumping in my blood before I even got into the aircraft! We get into the plane and I got to wear the headset and everything, there were pedals at my feet and a steering wheel at my hands...but I wasn’t about to touch them! He started the plane and started talking into the radio, he hit a ton of different buttons and I swear it was so complex we should have just gone to space! Haha okay, maybe not space, because I wasn’t dressed for it, but I have no doubt he could go to the moon if he wanted to. Suddenly we are 4,000 feet in the air and over the Valley! We went over to Topaz and then over Lake Tahoe! Lake Tahoe is SO pretty, I take for granted, because I live so close to it. Suddenly he decided to go vertically up, and then straight back down, sending my heart to my feet and then my throat! IT WAS AMAZING! All the buttons blinking and numbers rising, all I could think to myself was how much I wanted to go again, and it wasn’t even over yet! An hour later, the adventure ended...but it’s okay, because it looks like I will be going again soon! ☺

Reality. Corazon Real Estate. Most awful company we have EVER rented from. Google it. Seriously, 3 other people’s posts should have been our warning, however, we rented and then those posts were put up. I personally have never rented from anywhere else before, this was a first timer experience for me…but I can honestly say that ANY other company would be better. All we do is walk into the office and say our address and they roll their eyes, valley girl snap their fingers, and suddenly we feel like its our fault that all of our maintenance requests have never been filled (we have NEVER:
1) had a light in the stairwell
2) gotten the kitchen light fixed (cooking in the dark=hard)
3) gotten the house more than primed (so dark spots everywhere!!)
4) gotten the air-vent fixed in my room…=no air-conditioning or heating)
Sad day for our house. ☹ I actually really liked our house (even in my current sauna of a room ☺) The man who owns the company pulled our Christmas lights down…and then asked me if I pet the grass to make sure it was being watered (we have some dying spots…poor grass…doesn’t stand a chance really…) To anyone out there who might read this, don’t, I repeat, DON’T, EVER, RENT from Corazon Reality. It’s a poorly run business that isn’t very personable…at all.

Okkkay, now that I got that off my chest…
Maverick. It’s a gas station for all who have no idea what it is ☺ But as kelsea said, it’s the PRIMO of all gas stations, with cheap everything, and make your own milkshake! Haha seriously. We went late last night to get gas for my mom’s Green Bean (the mom van.) (moving time!!!) so we decide that hot chocolate would be the best choice for our long night of packing. Suddenly we see friends whom after getting our hot chocolate and packing it full of mini marshmallows we chatted with for a while, telling our tales of how we went to the reality place, and they gave their advice. We warned them against the company and they vowed to never rent from them. It’s weird to think my next house will actually be a dorm. A dorm a share. With tons of other girls. How exciting!!! I can’t wait actually!

Well…since I had neglected sharing so much about my life for the last few days and SO much had happened, I felt that this extra-long blog was very much needed. Haha. I’ve been sucked back into the blogging vortex, what can i say!?

PS. The Aces Game was awesome! The batter and pitcher almost got into a fight because the batter thought the pitcher was TRYING to hit him…at 90 miles an hour, I know I wouldn’t exactly be thrilled to be pelted with a baseball ☺

Epiphanies and Memories

I was driving through Geiger grade (flying really) and suddenly it hit me, that people go real fast in their cars and have complete and total faith in their cars brake-system. It’s kind of crazy really, that people will propel themselves in a car at 75+ miles an hour and not think twice about hitting/slamming/tapping their brake and it not working…. I was wondering how people could deny the existence of a God because they cannot see him, but drive 75+ miles an hour in a metal contraption called a car and believe in their break-system that they cannot see. Suddenly, while thinking about this, I started to doubt my brakes. I started tapping my brakes more occasionally, and this epiphany (or a really good sermon illustration…haha shout out to the PKs) really got me thinking about how we trust and believe in things we cannot see all the time.

Whew…alright, moving right along (my brakes are in perfect working order by the way!)
It was another moving day out of the Reno House. I successfully narrowed down the clothes and shoes today and carted them back to my parents house. It’s surreal really, sitting in my Reno House, remembering walking through the door with my hopes held high on my new Reno Adventures. I happened to move in during Winter Break…which turned out to be the best, because when I was off of work, I hung out with my Roommates. Watching movies, making cocoa, group grocery shopping, snow shoveling at midnight, fireplace, life. It all began for me in a more grown-up kind of way…no really it reminded me of a slumber party that never ended. Then school started and things got hectic and crazy, we all couldn’t wait for summer…but now that we are moving out, we are leaving a house filled with crazy, awesome, trying, hard, laughter, crying, real…memories. Wanna know the crazy part of this?! My Roommates are coming with me to WJU. Yes, all three of them. I know that we all will go along different paths that the Lord takes us on, but the Reno House will still be our common bond, nothing will ever break that.

Whoah, all nostalgic, haha! I suppose I am that sentimental person though, I love memory lane, I love capturing moments and saving them—so I can think back to some memory that meant so much to me. I guess moving out was that milestone I really wanted to capture, and now it’s over before I knew it.

(totally unrelated to this nostalgic memory lane-ness that this post suddenly took)—I am going flying tomorrow!! Over the Valley! I am SO excited! I am not the pilot of this adventure; a good friend just got his license though, SO EXCITED!
